Book Talk: Dewey

Title: Dewey
Author: Vicki Myron

Dewey is about a library cat named...Dewey. He was abandoned one day, dropped in a library drop box in the middle of the night in the freezing cold weather. He almost died until the librarian saved his life. He became a big sensation with the people of the little Iowa town of Spencer. The town had been going through an economic crisis and this little cat has been cheering people up.

This is about as far as I've read into the book though so I don't know what else happens.

So far the book's alright. I chose this book because I like cats and I didn't really feel like reading some totally depressing (like most of the memoirs to choose from). But it's a decent book. There really isn't any excitement but I enjoy reading it and I can relate to it in a way because I own six cats. Just reading about this cat's antics reminds me of mine in so many ways...even though some of mine are slightly more evil than this one.

Discussion Question: If you found a little freezing kitten outside, what would you do about it? Save it? Keep it? Give it away? Leave it be?

  1. If I found a cat in the freezing cold I would save it and keep it at my house no matter what because every cat deserves a home

  2. Come on now, what heartless...person would leave a poor kitten to freeze. I would take it and nurture it back to health.
