How does technology affect me and how has it influenced our culture?

For me personally it's been wonderful and at the same time...annoying beyond belief. Video games for example have always been a part of my life and have made it fun, provided me an escape from reality (which I've often found I need) and has inspired me to create my own characters and stories. Television shows and some movies have also influenced me the same way. The internet has been one of the most valuable tools as well. Instant access to almost any information I could ever need has helped me on numerous occasions. I've been able to share my artwork and even meet a lot of new friends via certain websites. I've also been able to attempt digital art with my tablet that I got for my computer this Christmas.
However I'm a bit behind and I don't really care to move forward as fast as we're going. I don't even have a real cell phone yet and soon enough the entirety of the internet seems like it's going to take place on there.

I think technology has had both positive and negative effects on society as well. It's made our lives convenient. It's helped us find all sorts of information and connect us in a whole new way like it has for me...yet it's also been a big problem. Amongst the useful websites there's tons of crap that we don't need. Tons of bad and illegal things. In some ways I wonder if technology will be our downfall because we rely so heavily upon it. Banking is even done digitally most of the time now. What happens if the internet crashes? Doesn't that mean we could lose all our money if everything is internet based?
Besides that, technology is growing at far too fast of a rate. Every time I buy something or anyone buys something for that matter, there's something better to replace it in a year or so.

In short...technology is both a good and bad thing.
